We built Rekla as a white-label version of Plai's AI ad platform. We spent months on the brand, the site, and the marketing before we ever signed on a live paying customer.
That gap — between the effort we were putting into the wrapper and the fact that no one had actually paid to use it yet — is what made us stop and look honestly at what we'd built. As a small team, we couldn't compete with the depth of features, the speed of updates, or the reliability of the actual product underneath: Plai. Every week we found ourselves saying: "The tool we're white-labeling is better than what we're offering."
Since there were no live customers to migrate, this wasn't a hard call weighed against churn risk — it was a clean decision. We realized whoever eventually used Rekla deserved the real tool, not our wrapper around it.
So we made the honest choice: shut down the white-label platform before it had real users to disrupt, be transparent about the affiliate relationships that replaced it, and focus on helping you find the right tools instead of trying to be one ourselves.
